About Axial Lumbar Decompression
PURPOSE:
Used to help the disc heal from within by creating negative pressure within the disc. This is accomplished by expanding the space between the bones of the low back (vertebrae) for a repeated period of time, allowing for blood, oxygen, water and nutrients to enter back into the disc for the healing process.
Treatment time is approx. 23 minutes, but depends upon the condition.
The treatment is typically painless and is non-invasive.
Patient is placed on the table on their back in the lying down position.
This treatment does not have to be for disc injuries only. The treatment is also effective for low back pain due to degenerative disc disease, stenosis, arthritis, facet syndrome, etc.
The treatment programs are customized for the specific patient receiving the care. Each one is different, depending on goals and conditions. Treatment will also include active therapy to help support the weakened tissues of the low back, so that the patient is less prone to reaggravation.
Typical treatment programs are approximately 2 months long with an average of 20 visits. Treatment costs are dependent upon condition, length of time of condition, severity, insurance coverage, deductibles, co-pays, etc. The treatment costs less than surgery and/or traditional physical therapy. The doctors will be more than happy to go over the costs with you once they decide if you are a candidate for the program.
